Even though I cook averagely well, my mum still walks in on me in the kitchen.
She still expects mini mushroom clouds over whatever I'm cooking /XD
- A deep pan.
- A wooden spoon.
- 1/2 litre (500ml ) of Milk.
- 5 cardamom pods.
- 1/2 cup of roasted sevai/jave/vermicelli
- 5-6 rose petals
- a handful of skinned and chopped /slivered almonds
- a handful of raisins
- 2-3 tsps of chironji
- 2-3 tbsps of sugar
What you need to do:
- Boil the milk at the lowest setting with the crushed cardamom pods.
- After 5 minutes, when the milk becomes a little thick, fish out the pods with a spoon.
- Add the sugar and the dry fruits. Taste it. If its not as sweet as you like, add a tsp more.
- After the sugar dissolves, add the vermicelli.
- Simmer on low heat till the Vermicelli expand. Do take care that they don't stick!
- Put the rose petals in and your kheer is ready :)
Its damn easy to make this kheer. And its really light too.
To make a healthier variant, just use toned milk and sugar-free.
Tell me how it was!
Tips are invited too!
