The Perfect cup of Tea.

Tea/ Chai/ Cutting/ Cha.

Cal it whatever depending on how Anglicized you deem yourself to be :)

Its the staple of every cubicle dweller / hosteler.
The perfect way to transition within the day.

:D
Tea always makes my day.

Its something I nurse when I'm stressed or ill.    /omg
Its something I drink when/while I'm doing something important.   /blur
Its perfect for sipping with a smile on my face.     /XD

:P

Not to mention, I like staring at people over a cup of tea too. Lends a grown-up air :)   /shock

My mum makes the awesome-est tea in the world!

The perfect colour , aroma and taste !

I had it after sooo many days today.
The effect - HAPPINESS!

Adios!

Me making pasta tonight. Trying to convince mum to let me use a small amount of garlic/onion :P

/bye

I made Kheer today :)

/hihi

I couldn't find anything in the fridge today !   /no

And also, this being the navratras I can't cook something that has garlic or onions in it.

So with my pasta dreams having fled out of the window, I sat down to wonder what I could make.

And I hit upon the idea of making Kheer :)     /blush

Let me tell you, I'm not a great fan of sweets, but if something catches my fancy, i'll eat it till my tummy cries in protest. :D

Kheer making in process :)

I shall be uploading the recipe soon!

Its DAMN EASY!

/nobigdeal

I bought some cute shoes too that I shall be putting up soon as well!

Lots of love,

/bye

Life is too beautiful to waste on Regret.

In order to understand Life around me, I draw parallels between people and things and occurrences.

I have found a consistent pattern of dissatisfaction amongst most of my teachers.

But its not just limited to them, I see it in my classmates, in the Matron of my Hostel and many other places.

My teacher at the coaching I attend constantly tells us (in muted words of course) how he wishes life had turned out to be differently for him, how he Regrets so many things he's done/ not done, how hard its been for him etc etc and that all he is doing is teaching CAT level English.

Job satisfaction: Is it a myth in this country?

Some of my college Professors, aged 50+ , they really lack drive and industry experience.

Maybe circumstances are to be blamed, maybe they lost the drive lond ago, or maybe they didn't care to start with!

But the transference is what bugs me.

Yes, I would n't like to see a rosy picture of life every time I asked.

But Life isn't black or/and white.

Its a range of colours.

I would really like to see the hues in between.

I hope my teachers would sometimes talk about how rewarding they have found their career so that we can see that there are two sides to every story.

Can a man really let go?

This post is inspired by incidents from my life(which is still young, but not lacking in breadth of experiences /nobigdeal  ) and another post by Virgin Cerebellum.

Men.
We love them. We hate them.

"They'll run after anything with two legs!" "They're stones!" "What would he know?" "He obviously isn't mature enough / understanding enough/ he's possessive / he's clingy / he's cold."
Haven't we heard it all?

Its very easy to generalize and separate men into three categories: The Goods, The Bads and The Maybes.

What is similar between men and women is that we both start treating love as the highest goal in life.

However, women are better equipped at filling the vacuum left behind after a relationship is lost. We have a natural tendency to be pragmatic, move on, focus elsewhere- on kids, on our careers.

How many times have you seen men venting? They do internalize grief and pain.
They cant go to the Ladies room and cry with girlfriends! Mostly it comes out with a bit of careful coaxing by a friend.

I can be a pretty dense at times, in the matters of the heart. Maybe I haven't been swept off my feet or I just don't believe in the whole concept.

My priorities are clear to me. Stand on your feet first. Then see.

Its in such a situation that I ignored the advances of a boy unknowingly.
All I felt was an intrusion of space and that I didn't have time to spend on outings/ phone as my exams were coming up.

My way of dealing, get away from him.

I met him a day back.
He came under the pretext of returning a novel I had. I obviously saw through it, but agreed.

I really didn't want to talk about anything as I really like to let sleeping dogs lie, but it was very clear from his words that he did feel something for me. And he had been stuck since the time I stopped speaking to him. And that it was important for him to vent.

Maybe I shouldn't have taken such a blunt go at the situation and quit talking. But it saved us the arguments and denial and forced politeness.

In the end, I don't hold any grudges. I'm just too far removed from all this in my present state of mind.

But what lingers in my mind is that guys really get stuck in the limbo and its hard for them to recover/ escape.

So before we judge them and categorize them, know that some of them really do have their hearts over their heads. And treat them with caution. Or you'll cause indavertent harm like I did.

I really hope he finds someone more reciprocative the next time.

Super-Duper Important stuff ~TOEFL

So I've finally been able to shake off the lethargy induced by a week of Viral and Home Cooked food and get back to work, studying and blogging.

:)

STUDYING being the key word here, My friends mostly ask me for information about various exams and stuff and I keep asking around too. Today I'll put it all in a lucid format for you to peruse.

Hope its helpful!

TOEFL:

What you require:

  • The Official TOEFL book.

  • Any Audio lessons on vocabulary building. Also watch as many Hollywood Movies as you can( If Mom stops you, tell her its for the listening section :D)

I have personally used the two, the Word Master is available from other sources (*wink*) if you're creative enough :)

TOEFL is nothing but a simple test of English. Really, it requires nothing but confidence and gut-judgement.
The real daddies are the CATs and XATs of this world that pose questions that neatly take out your middle stump.

In India, its "ibt"- an internet based test.
The breakup is as follows:
  • Reading-60 to 100 mins and 36 to 70 questions
  • Listening-60 to 90 minutes and 34 to 51 questions
  • Break of 10 minutes
  • Speaking 20 minutes and 6 tasks
  • Writing 50 minutes and 2 tasks
It may have changed but the last time I checked, this was the format.

There is this site Toefl prep material(free) and its an official place for it.
There is also a call centre service for Indian Test Takers: 000-800-100-3780 Toll free

Also here is the link to the official stuff:

Fee: $165
Check the dates and Apply online at : ETS-TOEFL

Best of luck!

The Weirdest thing EVERRRR!

Have you ever gone mad laughing in a LAB?

I'm talking about hysterical, maniacal, Put-me in-a-straight-jacket type laughter!

They so would've!

I'm down with viral(?) and lazing around at home..But I had to go to the Hospital to get some tests done.

Diagnosis aint here yet but they've given me the common antibiotics.

That and I'm ODing on Cough syrup :P

Well..so they couldn't find my vein in either of the arms.

The guy got frustrated and If mum and dad hadn't been there, I swear he would've poked me with the fat needle and taken it from anywhere!

He instead called the head to come down.

Now let me tell you, these guys are geniuses!

They broke the needle, stuck it near me knuckles and squeezed the blood out.

Yup. They did that!

I was freaked out, but more than that this novel situation was taking a toll on my already tender senses!

Maybe it was the disinfectant in the air.

Or the sight of blood.

I don't know!

But I just went mad laughing :D

Results awaited!
Hope its nothing crappy!

XOXO
