Something simple to cook.

/hihi

So this post is for my "boss" Sahil at LTGTR :D
He wanted to get some easy vegetarian recipes from me and I thought, "What better way to kill two birds with one stone!"

The first one's gonna be on Potatoes. /XD

They are the SIMPLEST things to cook on earth, and form a very important part of an Indian meal.
I'll be doing the easiest one today.
ALOO MATAR.

Stuff you'll need :

Heavy machinery like >

  •  A pressure cooker.
  • A ladle
  • A stove :D
  • A knife
Ingredients like >
  • 1 tsp Jeera (Cumin seeds)
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Haldi (Turmeric)
  • 2 tsp Dhania powder (The yellowish-green one!)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala (All spice powder)
  • 1 tbsp Ghee (DO NOT USE OIL!)
  • 2 Medium sized Potatoes (Cubed)
  • 1 Medium sized Onion (Chopped)
  • 2 Tomatoes (Chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Peas
  • 1 tsp of Ginger-Garlic paste.
  • 3 Cups water
The Method >
  • Place the cooker on the stove on medium heat. NEVER COOK ON HIGH FLAME! (Unless asked to do so!)
  • Pour the ghee in.
  • When it melts, put in the Jeera and stir till it starts to splutter.
  • Now put in the ginger-garlic paste and onions.
  • Keep stirring on medium heat till golden.
  • Add the tomatoes. Stir till they lose their shape.
  • Now add the chilli powder, haldi powder, garam masala, dhania powder and salt.
  • Stir a little.
  • Add the potatoes and brown them a little(1-2 mins)
  • Add the water and peas.
  • Close the pressure cooker.
  • Put on high flame.
  • After 3 whistles on high flame, reduce the flame.
  • After 2 whistles on low flame, turn off the gas. Wait till the cooker's steam subsides. This should take 5 to 10 mins.
  • The Aloo-matar ki sabji should be cooked by now. Check if the potatoes are tender. If not, don't worry! Just close the lid and put it on high flame till 2 more whistles!
You can have this with steamed rice :)

I hope you have no problems making this! Just follow these instructions!

AND just chill!
Cooking aint rocket science /nobigdeal
Just keep your head on your shoulders, never cook on high flame unless asked to (cuz there are high chances of burning yourself or your dish!) and if all else fails, just read the recipe again!

Always cook with a clam state of mind.
If you are a beginner, never try to rush your dish. Even the quickest recipes will take you atleast 30 mins to make. Its better to begin well than try to salvage a dish, isn't it ?

Hope it helped !

Love.
