How to make Steamed Rice.


Steamed rice is easy-peasy.

Just use double the amount of water as there is rice to cook, and always soak the rice in water before cooking.

For example :
1 cup Rice should be made in 2 cups water.

The method would be : (For 1 cup rice.)
  • Wash rice in tap water atleast twice. Just sorta swirl your hand in it. Don't crush it!
  • Add enough water to submerge it.
  • Keep aside for 30 mins.
  • Now take a pan/kadai and put it on low heat.
  • Add 2cups of water to it.
  • Add a tsp of Ghee to the water.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Drain the rice and add the rice to this boiling water.
  • Reduce heat, cover and cook for 7-8 minutes.
Rice cooks by steam, which is why the closed pan method is great. No stirring is required, as it would only break the rice. If you want to check if the rice is done, with a spoon, check if there is still water in the base. If its still wet, just cover and let cook for a few more minutes. DONT stir!
